Russia Today: High-tech trackers to help parents

Every parent knows that it is almost impossible to keep watch on your children 24 hours a day. But now a group of Russian designers believe they have come up with an invention to ease the minds of busy mothers and fathers everywhere.

Russian inventors have turned a toy into a tracking device. The new designs contain a small global positioning system unit which keeps tabs on a child’s location and then sends the information to parents computers or mobile phones.

«It’s great because it lets the child be more independent, but also means you can always find her and know where to look for her», said Katya Filonova, a mother.

GPS systems have been on the market for years — so what makes this product different to any others already on sale?

One of the inventors, Bogdan Lisovoy, explained: «The principal changes are in its small size and high performance. It’s mobile, prompt, simple, compact and the user has no need for internet access.»

As well as focusing on technical improvements, the inventors have teamed up with a designer to make sure that no two products look the same.

«Every new design is individualised, depending on what the customer wants. I make each cover with my own hands and so I can make sure the hardware fits perfectly inside,» said designer Maxim Sharov.
